To all poetry lovers,
We are looking to kick start a really fun, informative and progressive poetry meet in Hull asap! The plan is to meet once a week and to divide each meet into two sections: the first is a discussion of a predetermined poet/poem/poetic movement/poetic form etc with the members rotating the responsibility to set the theme for the night; the second part of the night shall be devoted to individual readings of personal poetry. We're thinking lots of tea, coffee, constructive criticism, maybe some group work, collaborations, and whatever else tickles our fancy!
Eventually, when we have enough heads involved, we will book the Adelphi on a regular night (monthly, fortnightly, or weekly, depending on the demand) and have a candlelit night of open mic poetry!
So, whether your a traditional poet of sonnets and sestinas; a bard of the ballard, the ode and the elegy; a free verse specialist; whether your moved by baroque poets; metaphysical poets; romantic poets; impressionist/imagist/surrealist/modernist/hyper-realist/realist/poetmodernist poets/and even if you don't know what any of the above categories stand for and certainly if you don't care ... let's get stuck into the words, the sounds of words, the bounce of words, and above all, the meaning of words. Let's learn from one another, guide eachother, develop our craft and have a good time with one of humankind's and most longest serving arts.
