How much colour is in your life? Or are you feeling dull & grey? Have you heard of colour therapy and how it can work to improve your health and well-being? Colour Therapy is a holistic and non invasive, pain free and powerful therapy whose origins date back thousands of years. Evidence of the use of colour therapy can be found in ancient texts from Chine, Egypt and India. Colour in its simple form is light of varying wavelengths. Our bodies depend on light and we operate as a prism. When sun shines onto our body the "white" light creates the rainbow of colours which fragments equally into our seven main chakras or energy centres. This light energy affects all living cells, we all know that without light all living things are affected. Used in the right way these varying frequencies of light, i.e. colour can have a profound and healing effect. Colour Therapy can be used for a variety of issues, whether it is physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. It can be used for specific problems or just for an overall relaxing experience. Colour Therapy can be used effectively and safely on its own or in conjunction with other therapies such as crystal healing or Reiki.
We all have our favourite colours and colours we dont particularly like. There are reasons for this. We have life experiences all the time, these will involve colour. A negative life experience will make us dislike a particular colour just as a positive experience involving a particular colour will make us feel more warm to that colour. A strong adversion to a certain colour can imply that there is an imbalance in that particular area of the body. Our repsonses to colours can tell us a great deal about our personality and also about what is going on in our lives at that time, it also shows us what lessons we are learning and gives us help about how to reach our goals. Being aware of colour and our reasons behind our preferences can help us to address some deep seated emotional issues too. This home study diploma course is made of of ten home study units and you are required to spend one day doing a practical assessment.
As with any therapy, each therapist may have his or her own preferred 'style' of working when giving treatments, however, a number of common methods used these are:
The directing of coloured light on to the body using a light box with coloured filters, this is the most common method of colour healing
Solarized water, this can be something you do at home
Meditation with colour
Colour breathing and the placing of coloured silks on the body
The methods are applied only after a thorough consultation and various assessments to find out which colours are needed to act as a catalyst for your healing process and to encourage the normal and healthy workings of your body. You will also be given advise on how you can use colour at home for health and well being, maybe a list of foods to eat or coloured crystals to carry. Your first session may be much longer than subsequent sessions due to the need for the consultation and colour analysis.
In the ten units you will cover:
